One of the downsides to living alone besides the pin drop silence and lack of company will be eating poorly, and if you have zero knowledge on cooking, it could be a disaster and you might find your self relying heavily on fast-food or waiting for weekly Owambe parties (now you know why that uncle who usually orders 3 different meals off the menu does what he does without a single care in the world).
Here are some meals that are important to have in your skill set if you plan on living alone.
1. Noodles
A 3-minutes meal can and will always be a life saver, learning to make noodles will definitely get you out of tight spots when you want to eat something quick that doesn't require special abilities behind the burner.
You can always prepare this meal to suite your taste and preference, its also suitable for any time of the day.
Difficulty: G (General Admission)
2. Eggs
An easy way to start your day. Eggs can be made in multiple ways and you could always be innovative with yours. They can be coupled with a large variety of meals or eaten alone as one. You can never go wrong with learning to make eggs. Learn a few techniques to spice things up so you don't end up eating the same eggs each morning.
Difficulty: G - PG13
3. Rice
If you're Nigerian you should be utterly familiar with this chairman. No need for introductions, you know its tricks and tactics, its schemes and plans. This guy is so popular i thought it was a class of food in my early years. You can't say you do work behind the burner and not know how to make this guy - that's a criminal offence.
Rice is a life-saver, for you're confused, angry, happy, sad. Its a shape-shifter and can be eaten anytime and for any occasion. This guy also has multiple ways it can be prepared, learn a few to mix things up.
Difficulty: G - PG13
4. Stew
Yes, Nigerian Tomato based stew. You know you need rice, now meet its significant other (they believe in polygamy btw). You can never go wrong when you have stew available to you, it's versatile and enjoyable. Learning to make this will save you a whole lot of headache particularly if you don't have that much free time. They can be frozen and eaten in bits for up to a week so you know you're covered for the week in one preparation.
Difficulty: PG13
5. Pasta
The middle m-man between Noodles and Rice. Pasta comes in various forms, its pretty much the same in every form, but textures and shapes differ which can add some flair or technique to the meal as different shapes hold or incorporates sauces in different ways. Quick, delicious, fancy. Learn a few ways to make pasta, and trust me, once you start learning, you really won't stop.
Difficulty: G - PG13

Honestly, pasta and noodles are the real lifesavers. No need to struggle to cook for long. In less than 5mins, it's done. Lazy man food😋
Soups would be rated PG18 😅
